Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream review

I got this with the August issue of  Glamour magazine UK   (T, tnx, love you!)

Actually, it came in a freebie tube version, but it’s nevertheless an amazing product!

Official info – CLICK HERE:

Our three-in-one naturally active eye cream is rich but not heavy and absorbs beautifully. We’ve blended Roman chamomile and skin-brightening lemon, cucumber oil and witch hazel with super hydrating hyaluronic acid, anti-oxidant spruce knot, softening and smoothing virgin coconut, rosehip and carrot oils, all to help brighten and smooth the delicate skin around your eyes.
Lightly pat and smooth around the eye area twice daily after applying our moisture-rich face cream or balancing fluid moisturiser.

A light cream that’s perfect for eye cream virgins! Hydrating, check. Softening and smoothing, check. Of natural origin, 99% check. Brightening, not.  As all of you beauty junkies know dark circles are caused by a combination of factors, such as genetics  and accumulation of toxins – expecting an eye cream to sort it out would simply be unrealistic. However, I’d definitely recommend Wonder Eye Cream, especially for girls and boys in their twenties!

Hyaluronic acid is the only anti-aging ingredient you are allowed to try in your twenties… Save the major ones for the times when you will really need them, say in 15-20 years. Yes, that does include retinol! 😉

L’Oréal Professionnel Fiberceutic – hair botox?

Hair botox without the dreaded botulinum toxin, that is. In the past two years hair salons are advertising it like crazy. So what’s the hype really about? Of course, it has nothing to do with botox – it’s just a clever  pun.  It’s a fibre-filling deep conditioner really.  Pretty good one, though.  There are 3 products available:

1.) Hair filling serum (IN SALONS ONLY. And online, of course)  – in L’Oréal’s words:

Hair rehab starts here! FIBERCEUTIC is série expert’s first two-step fibre-filling in-salon treatment enriched with Intra-CylaneTM, a water-activated molecule that is able to deposit in the hair as evaporation takes place and it is designed to help reinforce the protective layer of hair. Followed by the special sealer, hair feels softer and looks revitalised.

2.)  Fiberceutic Restorative Hair Sealing Treatment – (IN SALONS ONLY). The sealer is the second step of the process. It’s advertised as ”a weightless sealing treatment for hair. Enriched with Intra-Cylane, a water-activated molecule that sticks in hair when evaporation occurs.Seals hair cuticle while consolidating the protective layer of hair. Restores hair fiber without overloading it.Hair appears fuller, suppler, healthier & more lustrous.”

3.) Fiberceutic hair masque (for fine or thick hair):  ”This nourishing and replenishing masque, specifically designed for fine hair, helps prolong the effect of the FIBERCEUTIC fibre-filling service at home. Enriched with Intra-CylaneTM, the formula maintains fine hair’s natural volume and keeps it conditioned and supple between FIBERCEUTIC in salon treatments.”

I have tried all three and fell in love with the mask.  The in-salon treatment (first two products) come at around 10 pounds; the effects are meant to last for a month.  I have done the treatment only once, to no visible improvement.  Therefore, I wasn’t really convinced to go back… Perhaps I should give it another go as the hair mask did a lot to help my poor hair recover from dying – in both senses of the word! My number one hair treatment for sure!

TIP:  Apply the hair mask on dry hair before shampooing and conditioning. For best results leave it in overnight and shampoo in the morning.

Dior Lip Maximizer review

If you’re into one-offs  (including one night stands), skip this one. It’s just too good for that.

What Dior says:

Dior Addict Lip Maximizer: Collagen active lip-gloss

Dior presents a revolutionary lip care system that boosts volume instantly and restructures in the long term, thanks to a unique blend of hyaluronic and marine-based fillers that smooth, moisturize and leave lips irresistibly plump. Apply under regular lipstick or gloss for volume and shine, or morning and night as a 15-day intensive cure. Its fresh mint-vanilla scent makes it even more addictive.

What I say:

I could sum it up in just one word: orgasmic.  It’s just that good. Why? Let’s see:

  • it’s Dior – do you seriously need more proof? ok…
  • very shiny but not over the top (doesn’t make you look like you’ve just eaten half of McDonalds)
  • visibly plumps up your lips
  • cooling effect is very comfy during summer, perhaps not so much when it’s cold outside though
  • such a cute packaging 🙂
  • one tube lasts me at least half a year, which is not so bad for around 25 €
  • it comes in a clear shade (apparently there is one more – ”Apricot”, which I haven’t come across yet)

Would I repurchase? Most definitely!

And the nominees are…

So, a  few days ago I was nominated for the Beautiful Blogger Award by this interesting blogger: Check her blog out! 😉

The rules for the award are:

  • Post seven interesting things about myself.
  • Nominate other bloggers who IMO deserve the award.
  • Let them know about nomination.

  1. A few days ago I accidentally shared the blog URL with all my Facebook friends, along with my ex-students. I wasn’t too happy about it, but as it turns out I gained quite a few followers 😀
  2. For the aforementioned reason this blog is and will mostly if not exclusively  be focussed on make-up, not so much on sex, I’m afraid!
  3. I’m a proper snob when it comes to two things – education and make-up. A Cambridge degree should come in a Chanel box, as far as I’m concerned!
  4. I’m at my sexiest at airports. I’m pretty sure I’ve been bitten by a travel bug years ago.  And a certain weakness for pilots and flight attendants doesn’t help either.
  5. I have 2 and a half piercings. Yes, 2 and a half.
  6. I spent a part of my childhood in Japan, at the time of  the Great Hanshin Earthquake in 1995.  The thing I clearly remember is trying to keep my Chanel No19 in one piece. Mind you, I was 12 and the city was pretty much destroyed. Not my precious little bottle though.
  7. I’m a sucker for everything British…apart from fish & chips.

There are quite a few blogs I follow and adore…here is a list of 10 I can think of at the moment:

  1. A Beauty Junkie in London
  2. Heather Poole
  3. British Beauty Blogger
  4. Vex in the City
  5. Mademoiselle Snow
  6. Thoughts in Little Boxes
  7. KofyKat
  8. cupcakesakura
  9. Sweetjellybean
  10. Peach Milk Tea

p.s. A quick reminder of my giveaway – click, vote, win!

Choose what you get – a blog giveaway (open to all)!

My bathroom shelves are crammed to the fullest so I decided it’s time I give something away to one of my loyal readers. Not that I have so many readers, but I’m pretty sure those I do are more than loyal! 😉

There is only one problem – I can’t decide on the product to give away, so I’m going to need your help!

Here is how it works:

1.) Have a look at the poll below and vote for the product you would like to get!

2.) Follow my blog or like it on Facebook, or both – whichever you prefer.

The poll will be open for a week.

p.s. There is a little classic Japanese beauty staple to go with whichever product you decide on… So the winner gets two products anyhow! As one of my lovely readers said:  choice overload 😉   ENJOY!

Bourjois 10 days nail enamel Swatch

As you can see below my smartphone has a not-so-smart camera. I promise to get a decent one soon as this photos are of a truly annoying quality! Well, the pics might not be so bright but my nails definitely are, thanks to this Bourjois Paris cutie, 10 days nail enamel in 15. It’s advertised especially for its angled brush which is a bit of a pain-in-you-know-what at first but once you get a hang of it becomes really useful.  The idea is that the slanted brush helps with touch-ups after, I’d imagine,  a couple of days as I really don’t see it lasting for 10 days as advertised. Not that I could keep any nail polish on for 10 days straight, no matter how cute it was! 😀

Angled brush
without flash
without flash (the culprit for my nails looking so greasy is Eight Hour Cream)
without flash – it actually looks much brighter!!!

with flash – this is what it actually looks like!

I wouldn’t say I’m a big fan of Bourjois, but this nail polish is more than decent – no chipping and great coverage in only one coat!

Stay tuned, love,  snm
